The following webpage reflects a variety of organizations currently or frequently seeking interns. Remember that a Writing Internship need not be called that. Rather, it must involve 120 hours of writing and related activities, including corporate communications (memos, reports, emails), social media communication, information gathering and research, planning, or the like. Once a position is secured, remember to contact the Professional Development Coordinator (for undergraduates) or your Graduate Program Advisor to see about earning simultaneous degree credit.

These opportunities enable students to develop their interests, expand their skill sets and build invaluable relationships. Our typical candidates are looking to gain work experience in the financial asset-management industry.

American Heart Association

Description: The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. In this role, the intern has opportunities to learn hands-on how the Marketing Communications lead promotes the Association’s campaigns, research, programs, and cause initiatives to achieve heart health for all. The internship will provide an opportunity to collaborate with teams across the Marketing and Communications, Development, and Community Impact departments, and throughout the Association. The intern will provide support to and collaborate with the Marketing Communications lead through various marketing communications strategies and tactics, such as media pitching, handling social media content creation and execution, supporting the organization’s communication efforts with all audiences, and performing administrative and core marketing duties. Time commitment is 20 per week (hybrid, with in-person work required in Nashville). 

Aperture Magazine

Description: Aperture’s Work Scholar Program welcomes individuals to engage in Aperture’s programs and contribute to the editing, design, production, circulation, sales, and marketing of photography’s most significant publications; the development of major traveling exhibitions; educational programs for children and adults; the creation of web content; and all other business operations essential to a non-profit organization. In addition to working closely with the Aperture staff and contributing to the day-to-day office work flow, work scholars make contacts within the photo community at Aperture events and through meetings with various professionals in the photography field. Aperture’s Chelsea location offers the unique opportunity to work in New York City and have access to art galleries, museums, and other art-related facilities. 

Scholar Interns serve on a paid part-time basis (24 hours per week) for which they receive $15 per hour, as well as complimentary copies of Aperture magazine. This internship requires a commitment of three days per week. Current college students as well as recent graduates are encouraged to apply. College credit is available for this program. Remote opportunities are currently available but may change based on CDC guidelines. Fall are typically due a few months in advance.

Responsibilites will be to update music catalog into published and unpublished, support copyright control and identifications, upload new titles to shop site, determine songs that might be questionable and send to the Music Review Committee, sort unpublished works, work with volunteers to re-engrave songs that need work. Description: Only 5% of candidates applying to The Borgen Project are selected. While the hiring process is incredibly competitive, we look for a diverse range of backgrounds. We’ve found no correlation between high GPA’s, MBA’s and/or prestigious universities when it comes to determining who will have the biggest impact for the world’s poor. Our selection process focuses on finding great individuals, with a strong work ethic and passion for righting wrongs. Our paid internships are work-based learning opportunities that introduce college students to museum-related careers and other professions found in large cultural organizations. Description: FAM is committed to equity and inclusion at all levels. One of the primary goals of FAM’s board-approved strategic plan is ensuring that the museum is stable, sustainable, equitable, and a great place to work. This includes recruiting, developing, and retaining museum professionals, with a focus on encouraging mentorships and providing supervised internships to build a pipeline for emerging professionals and future museum leadership that reflect the demographics of Nashville-area communities. FAM’s internship program is designed to introduce college students to the many career pathways offered within a noncollecting art museum. Internships are offered to students currently enrolled in an academic institution during the school year, or recent graduates, with internship periods coinciding with the fall and spring semesters and summer break. Interns are assigned to a staff member to gain expertise in a particular area and work on independent projects. Positions are available during the spring and summer semesters. College-aged individuals and recent college graduates are invited to spend a semester working alongside our talented Zoo staff. These opportunities (both paid and unpaid) offer valuable experience in a unique setting for future professionals in many areas. As part of your internship, you will receive training in methods that were developed as part of Denver Zoos ROADMAP program as well as techniques taught as part of the National Association for Interpretations (NAI) and Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) Course. Description: The Transit Alliance is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to build awareness and support for funding regional multimodal transit. We do this by empowering local communities with information and resources to create positive change.  Interns are expected to work roughly 10 +/- hours per week on a hybrid schedule, coming into the Downtown Nashville office as needed—a schedule will be negotiated. Description: With the Band is a premier fan engagement company that helps artists better their fan engagement strategies through Fan Activations and their new Fan Crew platform. In only four years, With the Band has grown from an idea in a dorm room to captivating packed-out arenas with creative and collaborative fan projects for artists such as the Jonas Brothers and Kacey Musgraves. The company’s new web/app platform provides a turnkey solution for artists to manage and monetize their fan bases through a FAN CREW – their modern-day version of a fan club. Artists such as Dylan Scott and Maggie Rose have started their Fan Crews on With the Band this past year. Our internships are in person at our office in Nashville, with flexible work-from-home days offered.
