Dr. Patricia Gaitely will be traveling to New Mexico this month to study Curanderismo, the usage of medicinal herbs, remedies, rituals, and instruments of healing in traditional medicine. She was awarded an MTSU Travel Grant to participate in this continuing education course, which will support her research and teaching in Folklore. “I’m interested in how the practices are being transmitted these days, and how they are perceived in the twenty first century,” says Dr. Gaitely.
