Creative Writing Events (MTSU & local)
- A PLACE FOR ALL VOICES, a BLOOM STAGE show celebrating the release of POETRY IN THE BORO’s 10th anniversary anthology by the same name, will be held at the Walnut House, Sunday, March 22. Doors open at 5:30 for the 6:00 PM program. Please join us if you can – this is a milestone event for our local poetry culture.Through poetry, story, music, and performance, this show this show will invite audience members to reflect on the impact of all creative communities, and specifically Poetry in the Boro, through an entertaining evening of live performance and art. Theshow will feature the music of Heather Moulder, art by Henry Jones, live art by Gregory Lannom, and a host of storytellers and poets. We’ll have a lottery-style open mic as well.
- In Process presents an Open Mic & Cafe, Thursday, March 26, at 4:30 pm in the Sam Ingram Building MT Center. Everyone is invited to share up to four minutes of creative writing of any genre. Free and open to the public thanks to the Virginia Peck Trust Fund and the English Department.
- In Process presents the In Process Spring Fête, a two-day celebration of writing, April 16-17 in the Sam Ingram Building MT Center. Day 1 (Thursday) will feature fiction writer Patricia Henley, who will share and discuss her new work at 4:30 pm. Day 2 (Friday) will feature staged readings of new plays by Tricia Cundiff (9:00-10:15 am), Ryn Pendergrass (10:30-noon), Ava Howard (12:15-2:15 pm), and Jessica Pruitt (5-7 pm). All events are free and open to the public thanks to the Virginia Peck Trust Fund and the English Department.
Calls for Student Writing
Outrageous Fortune, the country’s first nationwide online literary magazine for and by undergraduates, is currently accepting submissions of all genres: fiction, non-fiction, drama, film, art, photography, and poetry, and digital files such as video-recorded spoken word and short films. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. Visit their website for guidelines.
